A conferência procura mostrar, tanto de uma perspetiva teórica, como através exemplos práticos, o papel que a memória desempenha no quadro da reconstrução de sociedades em regime de transição após a violação em massa de direitos humanos.

Stephan Parmentier
Professor of Human Rights and Criminology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven). Coordinator of the Research Line on Human Rights and Transitional Justice, Leuven Institute of Criminology (LINC). Secretary-General of the International Society for Criminology. Member of the Advisory Board of the Oxford Centre of Criminology and the International Centre for Transitional Justice (New York)

Jeremy Sarkin
Professor of Law at the University of South Africa and Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law and member of CEDIS at Nova University, Lisbon, Portugal. Admitted to practice as attorney in the USA and South Africa. Former Chairperson-Rapporteur of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances. Served as an acting judge in the High Court in South Africa
